The National Center for Improving Literacy (https://improvingliteracy.org/) objective is to broaden access to and application of research-based methods for diagnosing, identifying, and instructing students with literacy-related difficulties, such as dyslexia. They aim to increase the capacity of both individuals and organizations to evaluate the literacy-related skills of students, identify those who have disabilities or are at high risk of developing them, and fully implement research-based literacy programs and professional development. The Wheelock College of Education and Human Development at Boston University currently runs the National Center for Improving Literacy (NCIL). Additionally, NCLI collaborates with literacy specialists and academic researchers. The website offers resources for parents, families, schools, districts, and state agencies.

Many articles and infographics map out the route of reading, learning about a child's reading development, and advice for parents of struggling readers. The Parent & Families tab offers ideas and research-based strategies that will help their child read and write. Their articles are welcoming to bilingual speakers because they also provide articles and infographics in Spanish. The Schools & District tab focuses on informing all school and district stakeholders about dyslexia. One can learn more information on understanding the screening process for dyslexia. The State Agencies tab develops and implements procedures for legislators to help students with dyslexia.

Overall, this is an effective literacy website because it provides many resources, especially on catching students with dyslexia at an early age. After going through this website, I learned that early intervention is essential because effective instruction can prevent dyslexia. Also, I liked how there was a literacy skill checklist for teachers to fill out. After filling out the literacy checklist and answering questions based on your student's need, it will give a personalized report with recourses to help your student improve with reading or writing. Overall, NCLI is perfect for everyone to know how to help struggling readers, especially those with dyslexia.
