IRA Literacy Review. UsingEnglish.com

A Review on UsingEnglish.com

This is to Introduce the website UsingEnlgis.com as a general English Language site specializing in English as a second language. UsingEnglishLanguage.com is an established and widely trusted educational site that has been providing a wide range of free ESL (English as a Second Language) resources for learners and teachers of English since the beginning of 2002.  UsingEnglishlanguage.com is designed to help the non-English speaker (ELL) develop spoken English and comprehension. In other words, this site aims to help students master English Language and become competent and confident speakers of this language.  It is a very resourceful site containing a large collection of books and tools for both students and teachers.   These resources contain multiple lessons and training to help learners master English.

This website is especially useful for students whose native language is not English.  Interestingly, I found that there are three different languages contributed to this site which are French, Canadian, and Pakistan.  During a thorough review of this site, I found this site to be very beneficial to any students who encounter problems with grammar, sentence structure, and more.  With all the amazing and meaningful lessons, I am confident that all learners will benefit a great deal from these activities and resources found on this page. To find activities and resources, you can go to each section.  The sections include teacher resources, student resources, e-books, articles, Lesson Plans, idioms, and many more.  Its section has a list of materials and you can browse and download materials for different learning styles within each section.   I found this website to be very interesting with its content.  If you choose to check out the Article section, you will find lessons on Grammar, Part of Speech, English Grammar Terminology, Grammar Quizzes, and Vocabulary References. There are also hundreds of reading activities including vocabulary quizzes, Reading Comprehension activities, grammar lessons, and even training. The contents are categorized into several groups and these groups are found on the home page.  Within each section, you can find a list of materials and you can choose and download each material within each section. To locate resources for teaching, you can go to the “teacher resource” section. Here you can find printable handouts, lesson plans, worksheets, and even training for all different levels of learners. You will continue to find more interactive lessons and activities by clicking on the e-book section too.

If you are looking to improve your English skills, UsingEnglish.com is the right site. The platform enables users to test their knowledge of the English language through tests, question banks, quizzes, and language polls. With the provided range of materials designed specifically for ESL learners, this website is surely preparing learners to become confident in communicating with people across the globe using the English Language.   Check out English language reference material such as grammar terms, irregular verbs, phrasal verbs, and idioms. Millions of students use this site each month to improve their English.

What I found to be most astonishing about this site is that it includes the readability formula, text analysis, language analysis, and downloadable e-books.  You can analyze how easy to read the text is and check word tone and word choice with these tools; You can even download the e-book and read it later offline. However, there is one thing that I want users to be informed of. This website contains advertisements and these advertisements sometimes cause this page to be cluttered, but do not worry. At the top of the page, there is a top navigating bar that leads to the well-organized materials.   You may check that out when you encounter the clutter.  Last but not the least, you can link this site to your site.
