IRA NEWSLETTER PROJECT #4: MagicBlox!

MagicBlox is an outstanding website that offers a variety of resources to improve students’ literacy skills. The level of navigation for this site is straightforward and the layout is appealing to the eye. It is MagicBlox’s mission to build a positive reading experience for all children by providing an accessible and engaging digital library. Many eminent authors have partnered with the site to contribute to the enrichment of literacy skills. MagicBlox generally caters to primary students, however, the resources may also benefit ELL and upper-grade level students.

Additionally, MagicBlox also provides activities and integration ideas for each book. The site provides a search filter to match books to the various grade and reading levels. Therefore, allowing teachers and other users to successfully search for texts appropriate to one’s level of capability. In like manner, MagicBlox also offers an assortment of genres that caters to the many interests students may have today. Therefore proving its effectiveness in providing students with excitement toward reading.

All in all, MagicBlox is an excellent resource to expose students to positive reading skills. Surprisingly, a site filled with many texts continues to be free and accessible to all. All teachers can easily find texts and themes that match the capabilities of their students. MagicBlox is a superb resource to utilize in all classroom settings to promote literacy.
