International Literacy Association (ILA) Weekly Project: Effective Literacy Website #1

The Florida Center for Reading Research (https://fcrr.org/) is a free website that examines all components of reading and literacy across the lifespan. FCRR (https://fcrr.org/) enhances the science of reading to boost learning and performance through in-depth research that is both comprehensive. The FCRR makes reading and reading-related research more relevant, accessible, and high-quality. The website would be usable for all stakeholders, especially educators, families, and administrators.

The website contains news articles about reading, ongoing research and projects, and student center activities. The newsletter articles help keep teachers informed about what FCCR is currently doing. News articles can range from exploring how the pandemic affects children's reading skills in the short and long term to local communities holding an annual book fair. The ongoing research and projects section informs everyone what types of research they did to improve reading instruction, intervention, and assessments in Florida. Lastly, FCCR (https://fcrr.org/) has student center activities for teachers to use in the classroom. FCCR created activities so students can deepen their understanding of what has already been taught by practicing specific reading skills. The student center activities are categorized by reading components: phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.

FCCR is an excellent literacy website for everyone in the education field. Additionally, I like how the website provides relevant reading research that can help improve reading instruction. Since many of the strategies are research-based, teachers can ensure that these activities will help their students learn how to read. I recommend that everyone uses the website because it's research-based, and the materials are ready for use in any classroom.
