Between the Lions link is a collection of videos that
provides a set of early Reading and language Arts resources, organized by early
elementary and preschool literacy skills. This is hosted by PBS Learning Media.
There are read-along folktales and fables with a twist, clever videos of letter
sounds, and other catchy songs to capture children’s attention. The videos are
short. They range from twenty seconds to six minutes. Children can re-watch them especially those
that are catchy and likable to the child.
The skills that are covered for preschoolers are
phonological awareness, letter knowledge awareness, vocabulary and language
development, and even book and print awareness. Videos for Kinder to First-grade cover basic building blocks of reading. Such as phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and text
comprehension. This website teaches reading using songs that benefit beginners
and preschoolers. It lays the foundation. Best of all the videos are free to watch.
